Terms of Service

Effective date: August 5, 2026

These Terms of Service (the "Terms") govern your use of Grxffn Budgeting, the budgeting web app at grxffn.com/budgeting, together with the grxffn.com website and related pages (together, the "Services"). By creating an account or using the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.

1. Who we are

The Services are owned and operated by:

  • Owner: Zackery Griffin (sole proprietor)
  • Location: California, United States
  • Contact: [email protected]

"We", "us", and "our" refer to Zackery Griffin, doing business as Grxffn.

2. Eligibility

You may use the Services only if you are at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding agreement. The Services are built for adults managing a household budget and are not directed to children.

3. Your account

An account is required. Accounts are created with an email address and a password. We do not offer sign in through Google, Apple, or any other third party, and we never ask for your bank credentials.

You agree to:

  • Provide accurate account information and keep it current.
  • Keep your password confidential and unique to this service.
  • Take responsibility for activity that happens under your account.
  • Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.

4. Households and shared data

Grxffn Budgeting is built around a household. Every account starts with its own household, and you can invite another person to join yours using an invite code from Settings.

Because a household is shared, you should understand that:

  • Every member of a household can see and edit all of that household's financial data, including transactions, cards, balances, budgets, subscriptions, savings, and loans.
  • Joining a household requires approval from the household owner. A code alone does not grant access.
  • The household owner can remove a member. A removed member keeps their account and starts fresh in a new household of their own. The shared data stays with the household, including entries that member created.
  • If you join another household, and you were the only member of your previous one, the previous household and its data are permanently deleted.

Only invite people you intend to share your complete financial picture with.

5. Your content

"Your content" means everything you enter: transactions, incomes, cards and balances you type in, budgets, subscriptions, savings sources, savings goals, loans, payments, your profile details, and any statement text you choose to import.

You own your content. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, process, and display it for the sole purpose of operating the Services for you and your household, including backups kept for reliability and security. This license ends when your content is deleted, subject to the backup retention described in the Privacy Policy. We do not sell your content and we do not use it to train machine learning models.

You are responsible for the accuracy of what you enter and for having the right to enter it.

6. No bank connections

Grxffn Budgeting does not connect to financial institutions. We do not use aggregation services, we never ask for online banking credentials, and we do not import transactions automatically. Everything in your budget is there because you or a member of your household entered it, typed it, or imported it from a file you provided.

This means your statements remain the authoritative record. The Services are a place to organize and review your own entries.

7. Ava and statement import

The Services include an assistant named Ava that can read text you send it, such as a sentence describing an expense or the contents of a statement file you upload, and propose structured entries for your review.

You should understand how this works:

  • Text you submit to Ava is sent to our processing function and then to Anthropic, which operates the language model that reads it. See the Privacy Policy for details.
  • Ava proposes entries. Your app files them and shows each one as a receipt you can edit or delete. Ava has no direct access to your database.
  • Ava can make mistakes, including miscategorizing an entry, misreading an amount, or omitting a line from a statement. You are responsible for reviewing what is filed.
  • Do not paste account numbers, card numbers, or login credentials into Ava. She does not need them.

8. Acceptable use

The Services are for personal, non-commercial household budgeting. You agree not to:

  • Use the Services in violation of any law or regulation.
  • Attempt to access accounts, households, or data that are not yours.
  • Probe, scan, disrupt, or overload the Services or their infrastructure.
  • Upload content that is unlawful or that infringes someone else's rights.
  • Use automated tools to access the Services in ways we have not permitted.

We may suspend or close an account that violates these Terms or that we reasonably believe puts other users or the Services at risk.

9. Not financial advice

Grxffn Budgeting is an organizational tool. Balances, projections, payoff estimates, budget figures, and charts are calculated from what you entered and are provided for planning only. They are not financial, investment, tax, accounting, or legal advice, and they are not a substitute for your bank's records or a professional's judgment. Loan payoff projections in particular assume a fixed rate and no new borrowing, so real results will differ.

Decisions you make using the Services are your own.

10. Price

Grxffn Budgeting is currently free to use. There is no paid tier, no subscription, and no payment information collected. If we ever introduce a paid plan, we will give notice in advance and existing features you rely on will not be removed without warning.

11. Changes to the Services

We actively develop the Services. Features may be added, changed, or removed, and we may update the app at any time. We try not to break things that matter without good reason, but we do not promise that any particular feature will remain available.

12. Export and deletion

You can edit or delete individual entries at any time inside the app. To request an export of your household data or the deletion of your account, email [email protected]. Requests are handled manually and may take up to 30 days.

Deleting your account removes your profile and revokes your access. Household data that other members still rely on may remain with that household. Limited copies may persist in backups for the period described in the Privacy Policy.

13. Third party services

The Services depend on providers including Supabase for authentication, database, and file storage, Anthropic for the language model behind Ava, and DigitalOcean for hosting. Your use may also be subject to those providers' terms. We choose providers carefully and respond to problems promptly, but we are not responsible for outages or errors caused solely by them.

14. Privacy

Your use of the Services is also governed by the Privacy Policy, which explains what is collected, what is not, and what choices you have.

15. Consumer rights

Nothing in these Terms limits any statutory right that cannot be waived under applicable law, including consumer protections in your jurisdiction.

16. Disclaimer of warranties

The Services are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that:

  • The Services will be uninterrupted, secure, or error free.
  • Calculations, projections, or imported entries will be accurate or complete.
  • Defects will be corrected within any particular time.

You use the Services at your own risk.

17. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we and our suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any lost profits, lost data, or financial losses arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Services, including decisions made in reliance on figures shown in the app.

To the extent any liability exists, our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Services will not exceed US $50, since the Services are provided free of charge.

Nothing here excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

18. Your responsibility

You are responsible for your use of the Services and for the content you enter. To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend and indemnify us against third party claims arising directly from content you submitted through the Services.

19. Termination

You may stop using the Services at any time and may request deletion as described above. We may suspend or terminate an account at any time if we reasonably believe these Terms have been violated, or if it is no longer reasonable for us to keep providing the Services.

Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will do so, including ownership, disclaimers, limitations of liability, and dispute resolution.

20. Dispute resolution

If you have a concern, please contact us first at [email protected]. We will make a reasonable effort to resolve it informally within 30 days before either party pursues formal action.

If that does not resolve it, you and we agree that claims will be brought on an individual basis and not as part of a class action, to the maximum extent permitted by law. Either party may still bring a claim in small claims court or seek injunctive relief. Nothing in this section limits statutory consumer rights.

21. Governing law and venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles. Disputes will be brought in the state or federal courts located in California, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts, except where applicable law gives you additional rights.

22. Severability and entire agreement

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, it will be enforced to the greatest extent permitted and the rest will remain in effect. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Services.

23. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. When we do, we will change the effective date above, and for material changes we will provide additional notice in the app. Continuing to use the Services after an update means you accept it.
